Victoriana was my extension of a Unity course on the basics of 2D strategy games. As such, it was not built from a blank slate; however, my work went beyond simply skinning the course files. I ended up modifying most of the systems covered in the course to meet my own design needs.
Beyond learning the course content, this project let me develop several skills, including creating the sprites in Photoshop (with some work in GIMP), finding and incorporating appropriate sounds and music (primarily from freesound.org and edited as needed in Audacity), collecting and incorporating feedback from external playtesters, and experiencing the importance of keeping notes for, among other things, the credits.
